Plone.tv
Plone.tv is a community site for media about Plone - audio, video and screencasts.
Plone.tv is an online audio and video sharing
site serving the Plone community. The goal is to aggregate all
multimedia content about Plone under one easy-to-use site, including
the ability to tag, rate and comment on this content.
Plone.tv
is also a social experiment to see what happens when you make it easy
for people to add content and share their opinion of it with the other
members of the site.
Who is Plone.tv for?
Plone.tv is for anyone who wants to know more about Plone. You might have heard about Plone for the first time, or maybe you are a long-time veteran of the Plone community. We welcome all skills levels and hope that there is something for everyone no matter if you are just getting started or if you can code python in your sleep.
Why is a site with multimedia content about Plone important?
As Paul Everitt, president of the Plone Foundation, is known to say often, "the Plone community needs more storytellers."
We believe that plone.tv can facilitate more effective storytelling by
complementing these stories with the aural and visual aspect.
Which would you prefer? A two page text description of how to do something with Plone, or a two minute screencast that shows and tells
you how to do it? Most of us are visual learners and we learn more
effectively if we can see someone demonstrate or tell us how to do it
in plain english.
Screencasts have already been proven to be an effective means of communicating why
you should be interested in a new technology, and how to use that new
technology. So why are there so few screencasts about Plone?
As
a community of users, integrators and developers, we need to do a
better job of promoting Plone, not only to others who are already in
our community, but also to the world at large. Plone.tv is a place
where you can contribute these stories and share what you know with
others.
Plone.tv aims to provide a forum for learning about
what's possible with Plone, to attract new people to Plone, and provide
a valuable resource for instructional audio-visual materials about
Plone.
Our hope is that Plone.tv will raise the awareness of
Plone within the greater open source community, and will help decision
makers who are considering Plone as a CMS.
